GUAVA SAUCE

This sauce adds a uniquely flavored twist to sweet and sour style sauces and goes amazing with Tacos, and other spice heavy dishes.

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup Guava Jam/Preserves
  • 1 cup white onion
  • 2 dried ancho chili pepper
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast

Directions:

  • Dice your onion into as small of pieces as you can.
  • Cut open your peppers and remove the seeds. Place them in a medium sized pot and add all other ingredients. 
  • Cook this in medium heat until your dried peppers have turned soft. Remove from the heat and let cool completely.
  • Blend this mixture in a blender or food processor until perfectly smooth. Add salt to taste, and if needed add more water in tbsp amounts if too thick, until desired texture is reached.
